Kites up

Warm wind, shallow water and a color we still can’t quite believe. We pumped up the kites on the beach, rode the flats on foils and boards, kept the camera low to the water, and one afternoon rode all the way out to an old wreck.

A few moments in motion.

Pump up, head out

A big kite on a sargassum beach, then straight out over the flats while the water goes every shade of blue.

Flying past the lens

Camera at water level, foils up. Close enough to see the mast, and gone again before the spray settles.

25 seconds · Silent film

Spray, and one wipeout

Carving turns, a trail of spray, and the run that didn’t quite land. It happens to all of us.

Out to the old wreck

A long ride out to a rusting hull sitting in the shallows, with jet skis circling it like gulls.
